Building Envelope Design
The building envelope is a key component of any building's exterior design. It creates a protective barrier against weather, wind, and especially water damage that can lead to construction defects. Since 2003, Washington State has followed the International Building Code (I.B.C.) which emphasizes the role of envelope design. Important aspects are:
- Windows
- Walls and Roofs
- Climate Considerations
- Thermal Efficiency
- Reflectivity
- Moisture Build-up
- Doors and other openings
We are familiar with every type of design system an architect could require. In working with the premiere architects in the region, including the firms E.R.D., Sandler-Kilburn and R.D.H./J.R.S., we have installed many building envelopes. Our team can deliver:
- 2 layer 60 minute paper systems
- Rain screen systems
- Tyvek systems
- Vapro Shield systems
Time to Time was the first company in the Pacific Northwest to use rain screen systems, now an industry standard.
